NATO hails advancement toward peace between Azerbaijan, Armenia
“We welcome progress towards peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and thank President Trump for his efforts,” NATO spokesperson Allison Hart said on X. She described the agreement as a crucial advancement for both normalization and regional security.
Hart added that NATO will continue cooperating with Armenia and Azerbaijan to support the peace process. The joint declaration was signed on Friday at a White House summit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and US President Donald Trump.
The agreement includes commitments to cease hostilities, reopen transport routes, and normalize bilateral relations, aiming to end decades of conflict. Armenia and Azerbaijan have experienced several cross-border wars since the late 1980s, including the 2023 conflict when Azerbaijan regained control of Karabakh.
